A BREAK FROM THE TRADITIONAL STYLE
An
artist’s thoughts and reflections, hopes and dreams, nature and
personality find expression in his own generic style of painting while colour
renders reality and visual interpretation to his feelings.
Every
artist has their own unique style and technique; sometimes it is natural and
sometimes acquired.
Water
colour has an ancient heritage which I have interpreted in my own way. The
style and technique of the British era is completely different from the Indian
school of painting. I have tried to differentiate the various periods and tried
to incorporate the essence of Surrealism and Impressionism in my paintings and
this is what dictates my style.
Initially
in my student years I essayed my paintings in realistic forms. Succeeding that
period I have interpreted the British school of painting, up to the modern and
contemporary period, by incorporating Impressionistic style and technique.
I
am aware of the various experimentations going on in terms of Contemporary
form, style, technique and composition but I have not yet fully partaken of
them. However, my present style is a departure from the extreme realistic forms
of my earlier years and have taken a turn towards the creation of a new form,
style and technique.
